TUDOR CAKE

Take two cupfuls of flour, one cupful sugar, ½ cupful butter, ¾ cupful of milk, three eggs, two teaspoonfuls cream of tartar, one teaspoonful carbonate of soda, almond or lemon flavor. Beat butter and sugar to a cream, add the eggs; then add the milk, is which the soda has been dissolved, and the flour, in which the cream of tartar has been mixed. Bake 1 ½ hours.
