From 1915:
This little recipe is for Thousand Island Dressing. I have often used it and proved it a most appetizing addition to the home table. So many cooks seem to be bothered when it comes to making dressings for salads, and that is partly the reason I have chosen this for my favorite recipe. It may help some one else as much as it has me.
To the yolks of two eggs, beaten well, add, very slowly, one-half cup of olive oil, one-half lemon, a pinch of salt, cayenne pepper and a quarter of a teaspoonful of paprika. Then add three large green onions which have been cut very fine, and one-half cup of tomato sauce. Serve cold on salad.
