Spider Corn Cakes

Sift 1 ½ cups cornmeal

Sift 1 ½ cups cornmeal with 1 teaspoon soda and 1 teaspoon salt, add gradually 2 well-beaten eggs and 2 cups sour milk; use 2 tablespoons of butter or other fat to grease an iron frying pan; turn in the batter, heat well on top of stove, then set in oven for 20 minutes.
