Spice Drop Cake

From 1920:

Two eggs,
One cup brown sugar,
One cup molasses,
Three-quarter cups leaf lard,
One cup hot water,
One teaspoonful soda,
Three cups flour,
One and one-half teaspoonfuls baking powder,
Cinnamon or allspice to taste.

Add soda to hot water and pour over sugar, molasses and lard; beat eggs and add; sift baking powder with flour and add; bake in gem tins in one and one-half tablespoonfuls flour.
