Sago Plum Pudding

serve with sweet sauce.

One cupful of breadcrumbs, one tablespoonful sago, one dessertspoonful of butter, half teaspoonful of carbonate of soda, ¾ cupful of sugar, half cupful milk, one cup of raisins, half teaspoonful essence of lemon. Wash sago, soak in milk four hours, mix breadcrumbs, sugar, raisins, and soda together, melt the butter and mix in, pour in sago and milk. Pour into a buttered dish, cover with butter paper, steam two and a half hours, serve with sweet sauce.
