Take any stale pieces of bread you

Take any stale pieces of bread you have and soak them in cold water for half on hour, then squeeze the bread as dry as possible. Well grease a mould with butter and line it all over with bread, then put in a layer of rhubarb and sugar and repeat until the mould is full, having a covering of bread on top. Bake slowly in a moderate oven for 1 ½ hours. Turn it out and serve with boiled custard.
