Raisin School Sandwiches

From 1922:

My children like these raisin sandwiches I give them for lunch, and because lunches are such a problem I thought maybe it would be a good thing to let you print it for other mothers:

Cream some butter with a fork or spoon and mix chopped seeded raisins with it until it is a thick paste. Spread between slices of bread or biscuit. When I have peanuts I roast and chop them fine and add with the raisins sometimes and the children enjoy them so much. Some raisins seem to be sweeter than others, in which case I add a suspicion of sugar, but not enough to make them what you might call sweet.
