Get a package of raisins; put one quart of cold-water on them and stew one-half hour; then wet up one tablespoon of cornstarch with cold water, stir in your raisins which will make them the right thickness for your pies; drop in a small piece of butter and a little bit of lemon juice and one cup of sugar (teacup). This makes two fine fat pies, and I am sure doesn’t cost very much. A raisin pie is one of our most nutritious deserts.
