Plain Cake

From 1912:

Stir three ounces of melted butter into a cupful of granulated sugar and when well blended, work in one-half cupful of pastry flour, one cupful of plain flour, a pinch of salt, and a scant teaspoonful of baking powder. Break two eggs into a cup, fill the cup with milk, and add to the other ingredients. Beat all well together and add flavoring to taste. Bake in a loaf tin.
