1 quart of N. O. molasses or honey, ½ pound of citron, cut very fine, ½ pound of almonds, the rind of two lemons, 2 tablespoonfuls of butter, 2 of powdered cinnamon and 1 of powdered cloves; 5 cents’ worth of cardamom seed; 1 even teaspoonful of baking soda dissolved in a little milk; enough flour to roll out.

Cut into strips three inches long and two wide.
Allow plenty of space in the pan when baking.
When cold, ice them, flavoring with vanilla.
