This is a recipe which will be wanted wherever the children have hickory nuts. After chopping up half a cup of nuts boil about a cup of sugar with a third of a cup of water and a piece of butter about the size of a walnut.
This should cook together until the mixture makes a soft lump when dropped in water. After taking from the fire stir in the nuts and as it grows cloudy-looking pour it into a buttered tin, a little at a time. It spreads out flat.
