Take 1 cupful butter and 2 cupfuls sugar, beat to a cream, add 4 eggs previously well beaten and 1 cupful milk. Stir well. Into this mixture add 4 small cupfuls flour, 1 ½ teaspoonfuls soda, and 3 teaspoonfuls French cream of tartar. Add 1 cupful washed currants, 1 cupful sultanas, and ½ cupful finely chopped lemon peel. Put into two small cake-tins and bake three-quarters of an hour in a moderate oven.
