Half a pound plain flour, ¼ lb. butter or margarine, ¼ lb. mixed peel, ¼ lb. sultanas, ½ lb. castor sugar; 2 oz. almonds (blanched and chopped), 3 eggs. Beat the butter to a cream, stir in the sugar, then the eggs (each one separately), then gradually stir in the flour, peel, chopped almonds and lastly sultanas, stirring thoroughly all the time. Line a tin with buttered paper and pour in the mixture; sprinkle blanched almonds over top of cake and bake in moderate oven for 2 hours.
