CURRIED STEAK

Cut the steak in very small dice; dust with flour

From 1922:

Cut the steak in very small dice; dust with flour, pepper, and salt; fry until brown, with one onion also cut in slices. Then put in saucepan with four cloves, half an apple cut in slices, a tablespoon of curry powder, a tablespoon of sugar, and sufficient cold water to cover. Stew gently for two hours. Before serving stir in a tablespoon of cornflour thickening. Serve with rice in little mounds at intervals round the curry.
