Cream Puff Filling

From 1918:

2/3 cupful sugar
1/3 cupful corn starch
1 teaspoonful salt
2 eggs
2 cupfuls scalded milk
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix sugar, corn starch and salt together, add gradually, stirring constantly the scalded milk and cook mixture in double boiler 10 minutes.
Add to the well beaten eggs and cook 3 minutes.
Cool and add flavoring.
