Cracker Cake

For a common-sized cake use 8 eggs. Beat together

From 1913:

For a common-sized cake use 8 eggs. Beat together until very light. Add 8 rounded tablespoonfuls sugar, 4 rounded tablespoonfuls pulverized dry chocolate, 8 rounded tablespoonfuls fine dry cracker crumbs, 1 cup chopped walnuts, 1 teaspoon vanilla, ½ teaspoon (level) baking powder.

Beat hard all together, and bake in a medium oven about 1 hour. It burns very easily. Ice with chocolate icing.
If you want a smaller cake, use the 6 egg measure. For layers, use the 10 egg measure. The receipt as given to me had no baking powder in it; but I think a little improves it. It is better if kept for 2 or 3 days in a box before cutting.
