Corn Griddle Cakes

2 cupfuls flour
1 ½ cupfuls boiling water
½ cupful corn meal
1 ¼ cupfuls milk
1 ½ tablespoonfuls baking powder
1 egg
1 ½ teaspoonfuls salt
2 tablespoonfuls melted fat
1/3 cupful sugar

Add meal to boiling water and boil five minutes; turn into a bowl. Add milk and remaining dry ingredients mixed and sifted together; then the egg well beaten, and melted fat. Cook on a hot greased griddle and serve immediately on hot plates.
