CHOCOLATE SANDWICH

Quarter of a pound of flour, ¼ lb. castor sugar, 3 oz. pounded chocolate or cocoa. Beat one egg into half a cupful of milk, add a few drops of vanilla essence, then sift in dry ingredients; lastly stir in a teaspoonful of baking powder; put in two sandwich tins, and bake in a brisk oven. When cold put jam between and ice with the following: 1 oz. icing sugar, 1 oz. chocolate, small piece of butter, hot water; work to proper consistency; spread on cake, and ornament with cocoanut. This makes a delicious sandwich.
