Chocolate Cake

Cream ¼ cup butter, add 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 well beaten egg. Add alternately 2 cups flour sifted twice with 2 teaspoons baking powder and 2/3 cup milk with 1 teaspoon vanilla.
Add, after it has cooled, 2 squares melted chocolate which has been mixed with ¼ cup powdered sugar and 1/3 cup milk. Bake in layers or in loaf.
Cover with following frosting:
Add 1 cup confectioner’s sugar to 1 egg-white and beat thoroughly. Add flavoring, 2 tablespoons grated chocolate or cocoa, 3 tablespoons cream, 3 tablespoons granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon butter.
