Add a tiny pinch of baking soda to a pint of milk and heat it in a double boiler. When it is warm put in a cupful of bread crumbs and let them soak for fifteen minutes. Add to the bread and milk a tablespoonful of butter and a cupful of grated cheese. As soon as the cheese is melted put in two eggs, cook a couple of minutes, add salt and red pepper to taste, turn all the ingredients into a pudding dish, and bake covered in a quick oven for fifteen minutes. Uncover and brown and serve at once, as it falls quickly after it leaves the oven.
