Put together in the inner vessel of a chafing dish a half cup of soft, fresh breadcrumbs, two cups of grated cheese, and a cup of milk to which you have added a pinch of soda. When they are hot stir in a tablespoon of butter and cook all together until smooth-about five minutes after the butter has melted. Beat two eggs light in a bowl, stir for three or four minutes in the chafing dish, season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve.
