Grandma-approved old fashioned recipes

Block Cake

Four, eggs, 1 cupful

From 1922:

Four, eggs, 1 cupful butter, 1 cupful sugar, 2 cupfuls flour, 1 cupful raisins, ½ cupful milk, 1 teaspoonful soda, 2 teaspoonfuls cream of tartar. Bake in flat tin about three quarters of an hour, and cut into blocks.
