BACON OLIVES

From 1922:

Take 4 rashers of bacon, 2 tablespoonfuls of breadcrumbs, half a teaspoonful of chopped parsley, a pinch of mixed herbs, a little grated lemon rind, ½ oz. butter, salt and pepper, and 1 egg. Mix all ingredients together, spread a little on each rasher, roll up and tie with cotton. Fry slowly, and serve very hot.
