Apple and Oatmeal Cake

Boil three ounces of oatmeal till

Boil three ounces of oatmeal till thoroughly swelled. Strain and dry carefully. Skin and core about six large apples. Chop them up into small dice; mix the apples, oatmeal and two ounces of sugar, and bind all together with one ounce of flour, and form into small cakes. Fry the cakes lightly in one ounce of butter and serve them piled up high on a hot dish sprinkled over with sifted sugar.
