One teacupful granulated sugar, one tablespoonful butter, mix thoroughly, add one egg and beat lightly, one half teacupful sweet milk, two cupfuls sifted flour, one heaping teaspoonful baking powder, pinch of salt. Peel and slice two nice large cooking apples, chop fine and add to the batter, beat well, and drop from a spoon into hot lard. When nice and brown sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve hot or cold.
